First Contact Physiotherapy Service is a specialist service for patients with Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions such as muscle / joint / tendons problems allowing patients to be seen by an expert clinician who can assess, diagnose and treat the patient.
First contact MSK service can help with patients aged 16 years or over
- Patients with a new MSK condition or an acute flare up of an existing condition in the last 3 months.
- New joint pain or injury
- New soft tissue / muscle / tendon / ligament strains / sprains
- New Spinal pain
- Acute flare up of chronic problems including osteoarthritis
- Minor trauma e.g. sports injury
FCP physiotherapists will contact the patient via telephone in the first instance to discuss the problem. If the patient requires an appointment, they will arrange this.
