Important Information About Travel Vaccinations

If you are travelling abroad and think you may need travel vaccinations, please note:

  • Leadgate Surgery does not carry out full travel risk assessments.
  • You must first attend a specialist/private travel clinic or a local pharmacy travel service for a full travel assessment.
  • The clinic or pharmacy will provide you with written evidence showing which vaccines you need.

Once you have this documentation, we can provide the following NHS travel vaccines only if your travel assessment has been booked:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid
  • Cholera
  • Polio (as part of a tetanus/diphtheria/polio booster if indicated)

We are unable to provide other travel vaccines such as Hepatitis B, Rabies, Yellow Fever, Japanese Encephalitis, or Tick-borne Encephalitis – these must be arranged privately.

Please ensure your travel assessment is sent to the surgery before requesting an appointment – we cannot book you without it.

We recommend arranging your travel assessment at least 12 weeks before you travel.

Thank you for helping us keep appointments safe and appropriate for all our patients.
